Landmark icons improve wayfinding for navigation

Landmark icons appear at zoom level 10 and then disappear at zoom level 17 when the custom designed 3D landmark models become prominent. The icons enhance maps with both a premium design feel and practical value, as the icons make it easier to orient while viewing an overview of a city. Users can understand immediately where somewhere is in relation to the city’s most popular landmarks.

For example, Auto OEMs can add this premium design element to their in-car navigation and companion app to reinforce an upscale brand design and also improve wayfinding.

A fitness or outdoor application could visualize landmark icons to help users plan a scenic run. Once the route is completed and recorded, the icons help visualize a particularly memorable route and create a more interesting and shareable map.

Designed to stand out, built to fit in
